The world’s highest wind farm has opened in Switzerland at nearly 2500 meters above sea level.
The farm aims to produce enough energy to supply about 3 thousand households. The company in charge of the project, has erected three wind turbines to add to the original pilot turbine they had formerly installed.
The energy they produce is injected into a grid using a new type of transformer, which powers not only the wind farm but also a hydro-electric power station. The wind farm is estimated to produce up to 10 gigawatts of power per year.
