Welcome to A Global Awakening--a growing international network of committed citizens representing a wide cross-sector of activism and interests that provide a hub for collaboration, education, resources and more. It is also the home for the work of visionary activist Lee Temple, including course offerings, print publications and multimedia centered on The Global Awakening Series.
The Global Awakening series integrates widely-accepted scientific, spiritual, and environmental perspectives to reveal our profound collective journey from the Big Bang to the present day – so we can understand, at the deepest level, who we truly are, what we’re made of, and how we’ve come face to face with the greatest human challenge of all time: global climate change. In so doing, it facilitates a large-scale human awareness shift into a new, direct experience of the universe’s intrinsic unity. This enlightening transformation – as essential to successfully addressing climate crisis as the advancement of green technology or governmental initiatives – inspires broad-based, compassionate, win-win behavior that promotes lasting healing for Earth and her children.
Lee Temple is a contemplative mystic elder, spiritual visionary and global sustainability activist/consultant, who lives the low (carbon) life in the remote, high-mountain desert of south-central Colorado. Together with his life partner, Lee designed and built the Wingspread Sustainable Homestead—a comprehensive demonstration of how a typical American family can affordably reduce their overall carbon footprint by more than 75% -- by relocalizing their energy, food and livelihood – and adopting an exciting, enjoyable, fulfilling and enriching way of life in the process. He has generated his own solar power for over two decades.
Lee has made spiritual pilgrimages to Europe, India, the American Southwest, Easter Island and Hawaii. He has received many spiritual teachings, transmissions, empowerments and initiations, including the Kalachachra initiation that was given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Madison Square Garden, New York in 1991.
Lee co-founded the Crestone Sustainability Initiative, whose goal has been to create a comprehensive sustainability policy for reducing the town’s carbon footprint significantly by 2020, and to make it a working model for other towns in the southwest. In addition to his engagement in various creative, spiritual, educational, sustainability and philanthropic activities over the past thirty years, Lee manages Shining Golden Suns, LLC, the developer of the Global Awakening project.
